Am I the only one who just realized I've been folding towels wrong for like 15 years?

I was at my friend's house in Austin last week and she grabbed a towel from her linen closet. It was folded into this neat, flat rectangle that stood up by itself on the shelf. I asked her how she did it, and she showed me the 'hotel fold' method. My whole life, I've just been folding them in half, then in half again, and then in thirds... they always end up lumpy and fall over. I spent maybe 20 minutes after I got home trying to copy her way, and it felt so wrong in my hands. Part of me thinks it's a silly thing to overthink, and my old way gets the towel clean and dry just fine. But the other part is annoyed I never learned the easier, nicer-looking way. Has anyone else had a basic household task they were doing in a weird, hard way without knowing?

Wrong" is a strong word for folding towels.

Come on, @benflores. It's towels. There's a right way and a wrong way.

Read a whole article on towel folding, @benflores, and they took it pretty seriously.
