Found out my favorite hiking trail is only 2.3 miles, not the 5 I always thought
I was looking at a new park map in Denver and saw the official distance printed right there. I've been telling people for years it was a solid 5-mile loop and bragging about the workout. Am I overthinking how much this makes me look like an idiot who can't judge distance, lol?

I read some study that said people overestimate hikes by like 40% on average, so @janac51 is spot on lol.

I read that most people overestimate hiking distances by a lot. You just got proof from the map, that's all. Honestly nobody cares about the exact mileage anyway.

Started using a GPS tracker on my phone for hikes. It keeps me honest about the distance, plus I like seeing the actual route afterwards.
