Had the worst day at the bakery in 3 years last Saturday, everything went wrong at once.

I dropped a full tray of sourdough loaves on the floor at 6 AM, then the proofer broke halfway through the morning rush. Anyone else ever have a shift where you just wanted to walk out and never come back?

Oh man, that sounds brutal. I had a shift last October where I dropped an entire 5-gallon bucket of chocolate ganache right as the morning crew walked in. It splattered everywhere, on the walls, on my shoes, even on a customer who was standing way too close to the counter. Then the walk-in freezer died that same afternoon and we had to throw out like $800 worth of cream puffs. I seriously sat in the back on a milk crate for ten minutes just staring at the wall wondering why I even bother. It feels like the universe just decides to pile everything on at once sometimes.

Three Saturdays back I had the exact same moment, @charlesanderson, right when the espresso machine died during a wedding cake pickup. What worked for me was forcing myself to do one tiny task first (like wiping down a counter) instead of trying to fix everything at once. That little win got my head back in the game enough to tackle the bigger problems step by step.
