My boss said 'good job' in a flat tone after I sent the quarterly report.

I spent the next hour in my home office replaying the email, convinced it meant I was getting fired. Has anyone else spiraled over a two word reply?

Honestly the WORST part is when you start reading their other emails in that flat tone. Like oh no, maybe they've hated EVERYTHING.

Tbh you're way overthinking this. Some managers just have zero emotional range in their emails and @viola_butler's right about reading too much into their tone elsewhere.
