My boss said 'good work' in a weird tone last Thursday

We were wrapping up a project in the Denver office and I handed in my report. He looked at it, nodded, and said 'good work' but it sounded flat, almost like he was annoyed. I've been replaying it in my head since then, trying to figure out if I messed something up or if he's just tired. Did he mean it, or was it a polite brush-off? Has anyone else had a simple comment from a boss send them down a rabbit hole like this?

My buddy Dave had this happen last year. His manager said "nice job" after a big client meeting, but it sounded totally dead inside, like reading a grocery list. Dave spent a whole weekend checking every email he sent, sure he'd dropped the ball. Turns out the manager was just coming down with the flu and felt awful. Sometimes the tone has nothing to do with you.

Ever think @king.aaron, maybe Dave overthinks stuff?
