Panicked over a dead car battery at the grocery store for 20 minutes

Last Saturday I parked at a Kroger lot in Nashville and came out to a completely dead battery. I sat there for 20 minutes convinced I did something wrong, like leaving the lights on or messing with the fuses. A guy in a pickup finally asked if I needed a jump and had cables in his truck. It turned out my battery was just 6 years old and had finally given up. Has anyone else had a moment where the fix was way simpler than the spiral in your head suggested?
