PSA: The 40% off sticker at the discount store actually made me mad
I saw this big sign at a big box store in Columbus last Tuesday, 40% off all clearance items. But when I scanned a lamp with a price tag showing $29.99, the register said $24.99 before the discount. So I asked the manager and he showed me the fine print: the 40% only applies to the already marked down shelf price, not the sticker on the box. The sticker was old and never updated. I did the math on three items, and each one came out to like 17% off what I thought. It's not a scam exactly, but it's misleading and makes me trust every clearance sign less now. Has anyone else caught this mismatch, or am I just reading the tags wrong this whole time?
