Question about the noise in Booth 17 at the County Fair

I went to the county fair last Saturday and stood near Booth 17 for like 10 minutes. The hum from the generator behind it was so loud I couldn't hear my friend talking next to me. Am I overthinking how bad that noise was or is that actually a safety issue?

Stand right by it for a full 10 minutes and you're probably not overthinking it. That generator hum can get into the range where it actually hurts your ears after a while, don't you think?
