Spent 3 hours trying to fix a squeaky door hinge before figuring out it was just dry
Had this door in my apartment that squeaked so bad every time I opened it. I took the whole hinge apart, greased everything, even bought new screws. 3 hours later I realized the hinge pin was just dry and needed a $4 can of WD-40. Has anyone else wasted way too much time on something that simple?

Did you even try WD-40 first or just go straight to taking things apart? I always skip the simple fix because it feels too obvious to actually work. Funny how we learn these lessons the hard way every single time.
