Spent $300 on a concrete moisture meter and it saved my whole job
I was about to pour a slab for a garage in Tacoma, but the ground felt damp. I spent a whole night worrying the client would call in a year with cracks. The meter showed the moisture level was actually fine (like 4.5%), so I poured. Has anyone else had a tool talk them off a ledge like that?

Man, that's a great story. I read an article once about how a lot of slab failures come from rushing when you just have a gut feeling about moisture. That meter gave you real data instead of guesswork. What brand did you end up going with?

Yeah, my buddy had a similar thing with a laser level. He was sure a whole wall was out of plumb and was about to start demo. That little red dot proved him totally wrong, saved him a weekend of pointless work.

And honestly, even with a good gauge you've gotta test in a few spots. Concrete can be tricky, the moisture content varies a lot from one area to another. Best to take readings across the whole slab before making any decisions.
