Update: I quit reading restaurant reviews after a bad plate of pasta in Boston
Two summers ago I was in Boston's North End and picked a place with 4.6 stars and over 2,000 reviews. The pasta came out cold in the middle and the server shrugged like it was normal. Now I walk past a spot, peek in the window, and if it looks busy with locals I just go in. Last month that same trick got me the best taco plate of my life in a strip mall spot with no sign. I keep wondering if I'm just being stubborn or if I actually learned something. Reviews feel like a numbers game now, and numbers can be bought. Has anyone else ditched the apps and started trusting their gut instead?
