Am I the only one who just hit 100 local orders in a week?

I run a small custom t-shirt shop out of my garage here in Amarillo, and my online sales have always been pretty steady. But last week, I got a call from a local youth sports league that needed jerseys fast, and that one job pushed my total local orders for the week to 100, which is way more than I ever thought I'd do. It made me realize how much of my business could actually come from right here in town if I just asked around more. Has anyone else had a local job suddenly blow up their numbers like that?

Happened to me when I joined a local business group's Facebook page. Just started talking about what I do, and the referrals came in. What local groups are you part of?

Our town's library actually runs a "skill swap" group that meets monthly. It's not a business group at all, just neighbors trading help with things like gardening or basic car stuff. I mentioned I do bookkeeping once while helping someone set up a spreadsheet, and it led to three steady clients. The lack of sales pressure in that setting made people way more open to hearing what I actually do.

That librarian group idea sounds gold, the no sales pitch thing makes people way more open to chatting naturally.
