Finally ditched Square for a local payment processor and saved $40 a month

I was dead set on using Square for my boutique because it was easy, but a friend who runs a coffee shop showed me her monthly fees with a local processor were way lower. After 6 months of tracking both, I switched last month and the savings are already covering my website hosting. Anyone else find a better deal skipping the big names?

That "friend showed her the numbers" part really hits home. In my experience, the big names get you hooked on ease of use but the hidden fees pile up in ways you don't notice until you actually run the comparison. I've seen this pattern with everything from bank accounts to phone plans, where the local option just makes more sense once you dig past the surface.

Oh man, you're absolutely right about that pattern being everywhere. I got burned the same way with my old cell carrier, they made everything so simple upfront but then little tacked-on fees started appearing out of nowhere. It's like these big companies count on people being too busy to actually check their statements. Glad to hear someone else has noticed this too.
