I finally chose a local graphic designer over Fiverr for my shop's logo

I needed a new logo for my used bookstore here in Amarillo. After spending $50 on Fiverr and getting a generic design that looked like clip art, I hired a woman named Sara who runs a small studio off 6th Street. She charged $300 but actually listened to what I wanted about the vintage feel. The logo got me compliments from customers within the first week. Has anyone else had better luck going local over the cheap online options?

Connecting this to a bigger pattern, it feels like people are finally realizing that paying a bit more for real local talent beats throwing money at faceless online sites every time. Saw a buddy get a wedding invite design from a big name site and it looked exactly like three other invites I've seen that year, just different colors. That investment in someone who actually gets your vibe is worth it when your brand shows up in the real world.

Blew fifty bucks on a logo from one of those sites once and it came back looking like clipart from a 90s PowerPoint presentation. My neighbor's kid could have done better with a crayon and some construction paper for a quarter. Learned my lesson the hard way, now I just ask around town for recommendations. Feels stupid paying for something that's supposed to be unique and getting a template instead.
