I thought that $45 consult fee at the little shop on 6th was a ripoff, boy was I wrong
Last week I walked into a small accounting shop on 6th Ave in Amarillo to ask about my bakery's books and they wanted $45 just to sit down and talk. I almost walked out, but the owner spent a whole hour showing me where I was losing money on my numbers. Turns out I was pricing my cakes $8 under what I should have been, which adds up fast over a busy weekend. That little fee paid for itself before I even left the building. Any other owners out there get burned by a free consult that turned out to be a sales pitch instead?
