Last month at the Route 66 flea market changed my whole pricing game

I set up a booth next to a lady selling handmade leather goods and watched her double her prices after lunch while still selling out. She told me she prices for the Saturday crowd that comes after 2pm, not the early birds. Has anyone else noticed their Amarillo customers shop in waves like that?

That bit about "pricing for the Saturday crowd that comes after 2pm" really stuck with me. It makes sense when you think about it, because the folks who show up early are usually the serious dealers looking for a bargain, while the later ones are more in a fun shopping mood. One time I was at a swap meet in Lubbock and noticed this guy selling old fishing lures, and he told me he always raises his prices around 3 because that's when the families start wandering through after lunch. They aren't as picky and they buy on impulse, especially the kids who want something shiny. But then I started watching my own booth on Sundays, and I swear there's a whole different wave of folks who come just before closing time, and they grab things without even asking the price. So maybe it isn't just Amarillo, it's just that every market has its own rhythm if you pay attention.
