Question about the new coffee shop on Georgia Street and their supply chain
I overheard the owner of The Daily Grind talking to a supplier outside their spot last Tuesday. She was saying how they buy all their beans direct from a farm in Colombia instead of going through a distributor. Made me wonder if that approach actually saves them money or just gives them a better story. Has anyone else looked into sourcing direct for their own shop?

My buddy tried that, lost half his first shipment to customs delays.

Wait hold on, half his shipment? Are you serious @campbell.david? That is absolutely brutal and I can't even imagine how frustrating that must have been for your buddy. Customs is such a nightmare these days and they just sit on stuff forever with no warning. I've heard stories about perishable goods getting stuck for weeks and then they just throw up their hands and say sorry not sorry. It's honestly shocking how little accountability there is when things like that happen to small businesses trying to get started. Your buddy must have been furious, and rightfully so, because losing half your first order is a huge hit you can't really recover from easily.
