The $8 tub of hoof oil that fixed my sticky doors

I run a grooming shop on 6th, and the back door to the kennel kept swelling every time it rained, sticking so bad I had to shoulder it open. After three failed cans of silicone spray, I grabbed some hoof oil meant for horses at Tractor Supply, and it stopped the squeak and the stick for two months now. Anyone else found an oddball farm supply fix for their shop that beats the regular hardware store stuff?

Ha, "hoof oil" for a door, that's a new one. I once used udder balm on a rusty latch at my place because the lock was frozen solid in February. It worked way better than the WD-40 I had, but here's the kicker, my front door smelled like a barn for a solid week. Every time a customer came in, they'd ask if I had a cow in the back. The oil fixed the mechanism, sure, but I had to air the place out with fans just to get the smell out before it faded. So I guess my takeaway is, farm stuff works, but you might trade a squeak for a new problem, and that problem might be the smell.
