Warning: Found out that half the bakery businesses in Amarillo don't carry proper liability insurance.
I was looking into getting a small policy for my shop and the agent told me most local bakeries skip it to save $40 a month - has anyone else run into this issue?

Half the bakeries don't carry it" sounds like one agent trying to scare you into buying, not a real problem. I'd bet most of those places have some coverage through their property insurance anyway.

Wait, is there really that much of a difference between what agents say and what actually happens? I mean, I had a buddy who owned a food truck and his insurance guy told him he was covered for everything, then a fire broke out and half the stuff wasn't covered. @spencer_perry77 makes a good point though, because most property insurance does cover some stuff for bakeries, but it's usually not the full amount they need. I think the real problem is agents can say whatever they want to close a sale and nobody checks until it's too late. It's like my car insurance guy tried to sell me extra roadside assistance and I found out later my basic plan already had it. So yeah, I'd say take any agent's scare tactics with a grain of salt and read the fine print yourself.
