Finally noticed my anime watchlist shrink after 3 years of adding shows

I used to have like 50+ shows in my "plan to watch" list on MyAnimeList, and it kept growing faster than I could watch. About 6 months ago I decided to actually track what genres I skip versus finish. Turns out I was adding anything with a cool poster but never watching slice-of-life or slow burn stuff. Now I'm down to 18 shows and actually finishing things like Monster and Vinland Saga I put off forever. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize you're just not into the same stuff you were adding years ago?

Wow, that actually hits pretty close to home for me. I had a similar wake up call a couple years ago when I realized my watchlist was basically a graveyard of shows I added because they looked cool or because someone on the internet hyped them up. Turns out I was a total sucker for anything with a sad-looking character on the poster, but then I'd never actually click play on slow dramas or romance stuff. Once I sat down and really thought about what I actually liked versus what I wished I liked, I started breezing through shows I'd been sitting on for years. It's weird how much your taste can quietly shift when you're not paying attention, right?

Wait, the sad-looking character on the poster thing - that's way too real. I just realized I have like 20 shows in my list that are all moody looking people staring into the distance and I've never even watched the trailers for them.
