I watched the first three episodes of an anime my brother said was boring

He told me 'Skip it, the main character is annoying' last week. I gave it a shot anyway and ended up really liking the slow world building. It made me think, how often do we drop a show based on one person's take? Has a friend's bad review ever made you miss out on something you ended up loving?

Ever try a show your friend hated?

My brother talked me out of a show once because he hated the main guy. I skipped it for years, then finally watched it on a boring weekend and got totally hooked. It taught me to just try stuff for myself now, because everyone's taste is so different. His worst show might be my favorite thing ever, lol.

Used to take my friend's word as law on movies and shows. He said something was bad, I just crossed it off my list without a second thought. Then I finally watched a show he called "unwatchable" because I was sick and had nothing else to do. Totally loved it, it was right up my alley. Made me realize his taste is just his own thing, not some final ruling. Now I always give something a few episodes myself before I decide.
