I'm the one person who thinks Cowboy Bebop is overrated

Last month I watched all 26 episodes for the first time after hearing people call it a masterpiece for 3 years. The jazz music was cool but I found the main character boring and the ending kind of flat. Am I missing something or does this show just hit different for people who watched it back in 1998?

So you're saying it's a nostalgia thing. What did you think about the pacing though? Did it feel like nothing happened for episodes at a time to you?

Yeah I gotta push back a little on that @the_john. The pacing actually worked for me because it made the quiet moments feel earned. I get that some folks want constant action but to me those slower episodes were building up the tension for the big payoffs. The show let you sit with the characters and the world instead of rushing through everything. And honestly when nothing "happened" for an episode that was usually the episode where the best character work was being done.
