PSA: Don't skip the filler episodes in One Piece like I did

I tried rushing through the whole series skipping every filler arc listed on a guide. Took me 3 weeks to realize I had no clue who some side characters were because the fillers actually explained their backstories. Anyone else have a moment where skipping content backfired like this?

Same thing happened to me with the G-8 filler arc in One Piece, I skipped it and then had no clue why people kept talking about some marine guy. Felt so dumb when I finally watched it and realized how good the fillers actually were.

G-8 filler was genuinely good though, felt like actual canon material.
