Question about anime convention panels and how they changed my approach

I was at Anime Expo in Los Angeles last year and sat in on a panel about the production of 'Spy x Family'. The host, a storyboard artist, spent 20 minutes just talking about how they decide on comedic timing in a scene. Before that, I used to just watch shows and think 'that was funny' or 'that fell flat'. Now I pause and rewatch specific moments, trying to see the craft behind the joke. Has anyone else had a panel or interview shift how they watch a series?

Ever notice how learning any craft, like @taylor632 said about sound, makes you see the work in everything from your coffee maker to a good book?

Ever think about how much work goes into a simple reaction shot? I saw a talk with a sound director once who broke down how they layer three or four different audio tracks just for a character sighing. Now I can't unhear it, and I notice when a show cheaps out on the foley work.

Totally get what you mean, @taylor632. Ruined a bunch of shows for me now too. I'll be watching something and all I can focus on is if that door creak sounds fake or if the footsteps match the floor. Makes you appreciate the good stuff way more, but man, it's a curse once you know. Kinda like how I just found out how they make sausage.
