Showerthought: dubbed anime makes characters sound way too calm in fights

Last week I was rewatching an old shonen fight scene and realized the dub voice actor sounded like he was ordering coffee while getting punched through 3 buildings... The sub version had him screaming for like 20 seconds straight. Has anyone else noticed this gap between dub and sub energy?

Dubs usually have to match the mouth flaps, so they compress the screaming into shorter takes, which ends up sounding flat. The original Japanese recording can stretch a yell across multiple cuts because the animators draw the mouth open longer, so the sub naturally has more room for raw emotion. It's not that dub actors are lazy, it's just a technical thing about how the timing works out differently.
