That one time a guy on Reddit told me to skip the first 15 episodes of Gintama and he was totally right

I was about to drop the show after 8 episodes because it felt like random nonsense, but he said the real plot and character development don't kick in until episode 16, so I stuck with it and now it's my favorite comedy anime ever, did anyone else get similar advice to skip ahead or power through a slow start?

Yeah, I've heard that exact advice for Gintama. It's pretty common knowledge in the fandom that the first 15 or so episodes are mostly just introducing characters and doing random sketch comedy before the show finds its groove. A buddy of mine told me to start at episode 3 or 4 and just look up a quick summary of what you missed if I felt confused. Worked fine for me.

Heard someone call episodes 1-15 "the extended tutorial" and honestly that's perfect.
