TIL that skipping the exposition dump actually makes a better opening
A comment on r/anime last week said my review was too much info upfront and no hook, so I tried rewriting it with just one scene and a question. The replies were way more engaged, anyone else get that note and change how they structure posts?

Yeah I had the exact same thing happen with a post I did on the Silent Hill 2 remake subreddit. I wrote out like five paragraphs explaining the lore and my history with the series and barely anyone replied. Then I rewrote it starting with "the hospital hallway was dark and I was already out of bullets" and suddenly the comments were full of people sharing their own scary moments. Its wild how much cutting the setup changes things. For me it clicked when I realized people scroll fast and they need a reason to stop. What kind of stuff did you cut from your original post?

Wait, @kaip11 you actually rewrote the whole thing? Lol I cut my whole backstory about why I love the original. Just jumped straight into the scary part and it worked way better.
