Vent: Paid $120 for a Crunchyroll premium tier and still got ads

I signed up for the mega fan plan back in March thinking no ads meant no ads. First week was fine but then I started getting these unskippable 30 second spots for their own shows mid-episode. Called support and they said it's 'promotional content' not ads so it's fine. Has anyone else dealt with this loophole or found a workaround?

Try using a pihole or adblocker on whatever device you stream from. I blocked their ad servers on my router and those "promotional" spots just skip right past now. Its not perfect because sometimes the player bugs out and throws an error, but its way better than sitting through 30 seconds of ads for shows I already watch. If you have a smart TV its trickier but on a laptop or phone it works fine.

and that router trick works even better if you also block their stats domain too, @robert_hayes I did that and the player skips the whole segment instead of glitching like you said. the only downside is sometimes the app thinks you're offline for a sec, but it clears up quick. honestly for a service that costs this much, having to hack your own network just to watch a show is pretty ridiculous but it is what it is.
