Vent: that anime club meetup in Chicago turned me into a binge watcher

I went to one casual meetup last month at a library and now I've watched 47 episodes of three different shows I swore I'd never touch, how do you all keep up with every seasonal release without losing your whole weekend?

47 episodes in a month is rookie numbers, I once got so deep into a mecha show I started dreaming in robot parts and woke up convinced my toaster was a transformer. The trick is nobody actually keeps up with everything, we all just pretend and then cram the good stuff during holidays when we should be sleeping. My buddy swears by skipping the first three episodes of every show and just reading wiki summaries, now he's got this weird gap in his brain where he knows every plot twist but zero character names. That library meetup sounds dangerous, those folks are enablers, next thing you know you'll be at a convention wearing a hoodie with a character who dies in episode five.
