Bought a $600 battery chainsaw over gas after a bet with my foreman

So last month my foreman bet me I couldn't even limb a single oak with a battery saw before the battery died. I took him up on it and got that Stihl MSA 300, the big one. First job was an 80 foot dead ash in a backyard. Got the whole tree down and limbed up on one battery charge. He was pissed lol. Still nervous about it lasting on bigger jobs though. Anyone else switched over and regretted it later?

Used to be a diehard gas guy myself, swore I'd never touch a battery saw. But then I borrowed a buddy's top of the line one for a weekend just to shut him up, ended up being real impressed. My big gripe was always worrying about runtime, but on that job I took down a decent sized maple and still had half the battery left. It's changed my mind for sure, at least on smaller to medium day work. Gotta respect the tech.

Pfft. One tree doesn't prove anything. Wait till you're on day 3 of a big job with no power in sight. Battery life tanks in the cold too. I've seen guys try to make the switch and end up hauling a generator around anyway. Just saying, don't get too cocky off one lucky morning.
