Can we talk about how much difference a good pruning saw makes?

I was always one of those guys who figured a saw is a saw, you know? Been using the same cheap folding saw for like 3 years. Last week I finally borrowed a Silky Zubat from a buddy on a big oak job in Austin. Cut through a 6 inch limb in like 5 seconds flat. I felt stupid for not upgrading sooner. Anyone else hold onto old gear way too long before trying something better?

Silkys are great but keep that blade oiled or it'll rust fast.

Man, RIGHT??? I had the exact same thing happen to me. I used this rusty old Corona saw for years, thought it was fine because it cut through stuff eventually. Then a buddy let me try his Silky on a big pecan limb and I swear I almost cried laughing at how easy it was. It was like the limb was made of butter, just slid right through with barely any effort. I went home and ordered one that same night. Now I can't even look at my old saw without feeling embarrassed for how stubborn I was.
