Can we talk about people who prune oak trees in the summer?

I was doing a removal job last week near Columbus and saw a homeowner out there cutting big limbs off a mature red oak in July. That's just asking for oak wilt, plain and simple. I had to stop and explain that you really should only prune oaks in the dormant season, November through March around here, to avoid attracting sap beetles that spread the fungus. Has anyone else had to school a neighbor on this or am I the only one running into it?

Can we talk about people who prune oak trees in the summer" - man, I used to be that guy. Before I learned about oak wilt, I thought any time was fine as long as the branches were dead or rubbing something. Now I wait until January when the trees are fully dormant, it's just not worth risking the whole tree for the sake of convenience.
