Hot take: I think climbing with a flip line is actually safer than a lanyard for certain cuts
I spent 3 years always using my lanyard for limb walks until I took a spill last August on a big red oak. A guy I respect told me to try the flip line setup and I haven't looked back. Anyone else switch methods after a close call like that?

Oh man, that red oak spill sounds rough! I'm curious though - what kind of tree were you in when you made the switch, and was it a removal or just a prune job?

You know what, I used to think that was total nonsense too. But then I had to switch from a big ol' silver maple (removal, it was half dead) and realized my old technique was way too clunky for that mess. Totally changed my mind on that one.
