My climbing line got stuck in a 90-foot oak during a storm in Springfield
Had to improvise a retrieval with a throw bag in the rain, which took almost an hour. Anyone have a better method for a slick, stuck rope in bad weather?

Wasn't a throw bag a bit risky in that storm?

oh yeah my buddy Tom tried that exact thing a couple years back in a storm that came up fast. he figured the bag would be heavy enough to cut through the wind but instead it just whipped back and smacked him right in the face. knocked him clean off his feet onto the wet grass. spent the rest of the afternoon picking leaves out of his teeth. not gonna lie i still tease him about it every time we see a throw bag. so i get where parkermorgan is coming from especially with that oak branch situation. sometimes the simplest tools turn into the biggest headaches when the weather fights back.

An hour in the rain with a throw bag sounds like Springfield's idea of a fun afternoon. Next time maybe just let the oak keep it as a souvenir.
