My old boss swore by flushing trees with water 4 times a year, I think it's a waste of time
He claimed it pushes oxygen to the roots and prevents compaction, but after a season of doing it on 12 mature oaks I lost two to root rot anyway, has anyone actually seen this method pay off or is it just an old wives' tale?

Yeah that's the thing about "well that's how we've always done it" thinking, tends to ignore what's actually happening.

Read an article about kodak missing digital photography because they were stuck on film. That company had the tech first but ignored it since film was their bread and butter. Happens all the time when people get too comfortable with what works.
