Pro tip: A climber in Boise told me my speedline was 'a disaster waiting for a wind gust' and now I always pre-tension with a 3:1 MA system.
He was right, because that slack can whip a limb section right into your rigging point if the anchor shifts even a little, so what's your go-to method for setting a tight speedline in a tight backyard?

Yeah, that 3:1 is solid. I'll run a porty off the tree and use a GRCS to crank it down if I really need to pull the line tight across a yard.

Oh man, that's the truth. I learned that the hard way too. My go-to is a simple 4:1 with a micro pulley on the tail, it gets it drum-tight without needing a ton of space to pull. That pre-tension is everything.

Remember when we all just pulled on ropes until our hands hurt? Now we're out here doing math to set up a clothesline. I tried explaining a 4:1 mechanical advantage to my neighbor and he just stared at me like I was building a spaceship. It works though, can't argue with a tight line even if you need a degree to set it up.
