That time a 20-inch oak limb landed six feet from my chipper chute
I'd been feeding brush from the same side for a decade, but seeing that big piece kick back from the wrong angle was a real wake-up call. Anyone else have a close call that made you change your whole feeding routine?

Damn, that's scary. Did you figure out exactly what went wrong with the feed angle, or was it just one of those freak things where the wood had a hidden twist? I'd be paranoid about every piece after that lol.

Honestly started wondering if the shop lights were part of the problem. Had a flickering fluorescent right over the saw that day, casting weird, moving shadows on the workpiece. Made it super hard to see the actual grain lines and any slight bow in the board. Your eyes can play tricks in bad light, might have fed it a degree or two off without even realizing. Sometimes the tool is fine, but the whole setup around it messes you up.

Yikes, makes you wonder if the wood was still holding tension from how it grew. That internal stress can turn a normal cut into a rocket.
