The crane choker I found on a job in Spokane made my blood boil

I was doing a removal for a homeowner in Spokane last month and the crew they had used before left a worn out crane choker right in the tree crotch. The thing had cuts deep enough to see the core fibers, and someone had just zip tied it up there like it was trash. That kind of sloppiness gets people hurt or worse, and it gives the rest of us a bad name when a homeowner sees that junk. I pulled it down and showed the client, told them never to hire that outfit again. I've been climbing for 11 years and I still double check every sling and carabiner before I trust my weight to it. Is anyone else finding abandoned gear or sketchy rigging left behind by other companies? What do you do with it when you find it on a job?

Found a beat-up sling once, tossed it in the scrap bin where it belonged. Folks who leave junk like that shouldn't be running chainsaws, period. Good on you for showing the client the truth.
