TIL a 3-strand rope climb is way easier on my hands than a 16-strand braid for the same job

I was doing a crown reduction on a big oak in a tight backyard and had to haul myself up the same route a dozen times. The 16-strand felt smoother at first but it just ate into my palms after the third trip. The 3-strand felt rougher but it didn't slip and my grip didn't get as tired. Am I crazy for thinking the simpler rope is better for repeated ascents?

Saw my buddy switch for the same reason last month.

It's like everything's got a subscription trap now. Even my car insurance tried to quietly bump my rate last month, had to call and threaten to leave. Feels like companies just bet on people not noticing the small hikes.

Yeah, I was just reading about this. A tech blog said a lot of people are moving because of the new fee structure. They gave the example of a small online store that saw its monthly costs jump by like forty bucks for no real reason. That adds up fast. Makes total sense why someone would look for a way out.
