Tried a throw bag instead of climbing for a dead oak limb over a roof in Boise, and it saved me a sketchy traverse
Had a 4 inch dead limb hanging over a garage in Boise and I didn't want to walk out on the roof to set a line. Threw a bag over the limb two tries, tied a running bowline, and pulled it down from the ground in about 10 minutes. Anyone else use this on small hangers, or do you just climb every time?
A 4 inch limb over a garage isn't what most of us would call sketchy. That's a half hour of work with a pole saw and a ladder if you feel like being careful. Sounds like you found a way to skip setting a line, which is fine, but calling it a save feels like a stretch. The throw bag trick works, sure, but it's not some big secret. People have been doing it on little hangers for years.
