Update: Took me 40 minutes to figure out a 12 inch limb was hung up on a fence wire
Kept cutting and nothing dropped, turned out the wire was holding the whole thing and my notch was fine the entire time. Anyone else get fooled by hidden hardware up in the canopy on a takedown?

Your notch was probably fine but that doesn't mean the wire was the only thing holding it, a hung up limb can still have wood fibers keeping it attached even without the fence wire.
