Appreciation post: that one harsh critique about my field notes actually stuck
Back in March I was on a dig outside of Santa Fe and the site supervisor ripped into my documentation, said it read like a grocery list with no context. She pointed out I was writing what I found but not why it mattered in the layer, like soil color changes or artifact angles. I started adding little sketches and three word reminders about the deposition, and my notes got picked for the final report by June. That feedback bugged me for two weeks but honestly it made cataloging way less stressful later. Has anyone else had a supervisor's blunt comment that changed your whole workflow?
