Field notebook lost to rain, never again without ziplocks

During a dig near the old Roman quarry outside York, a sudden downpour hit and my field notebook got soaked right through my canvas bag. The ink smeared into mush, and I lost three days of trench notes including the exact layer where we found a corroded iron fibula. I ended up re-logging everything from memory with the site supervisor's help, but we missed some context on the pit feature. Now I keep every notebook in a double ziplock bag and a waterproof pen clipped to my vest. Has anyone else had to rebuild notes from a wrecked record?

That soaked notebook thing happened to me too, so now I scan every page with my phone before I leave the site.
