Found a Roman coin in a goat pasture outside Mérida, still shaking a bit
I was out near the old aqueduct ruins with a metal detector, mostly hoping to find some modern trash to be honest. About two hours in, I got a faint signal under a gnarled olive tree and dug down maybe 8 inches. It was a small bronze coin, pretty worn, but I could make out a profile on one side. The local museum guy thinks it might be from the 3rd century, which is wild for a random goat field. Has anyone else had a lucky surface find that turned out way older than expected?
