I keep seeing people call that new Roman mosaic a 'gladiator arena' when it's clearly a bathhouse scene

It's a floor from a villa near Pompeii, and the central figure is holding a strigil, not a sword. I watched a lecture from a professor in Naples who pointed out the plumbing channels. Why do folks jump to the most exciting wrong answer? Has anyone else noticed this mix-up with domestic vs. public spaces?

But does it really matter if some random person online gets it wrong? It's just a cool old floor.

Matters because wrong guesses become "facts" after enough retweets. Next thing you know, textbooks are calling it the Gladiator Mosaic.
