Just realized I was digging test pits all wrong for 2 years

I was out at a site near Denton last week and this grad student watched me scrape for like 5 minutes. She pointed out I was using the trowel upside down, smoothing instead of cutting. Anyone else have that moment where you find out something basic you been doing is totally backward?

Trowel upside down" happened to me too, but with a paint scraper at home.

Has that happened to anyone else? I always grab the handle without checking which side is up. It stings way more than it should!
