My GPS unit swore a Roman road ran through my cow pasture

Last month in rural Somerset I got a ping on my handheld Garmin showing a faint linear crop mark that matched old survey maps, so I dug a small test trench and hit a layer of compacted flint and gravel about 8 inches down. No pottery, no coins, just that packed stone, but it made me wonder how many "anomalies" are actually ancient roads we've already forgotten. Has anyone else chased a digital lead that turned out to be a real feature, or did you just find an old drainage pipe?

Might just be a fancy old cattle path, mapped by a very bored Roman.
