My trowel's handle snapped clean off while I was working a trench in Tucson last Tuesday, so I had to finish the shift using my hands and a dustpan brush.
Has anyone found a brand of trowel that can actually handle compacted desert soil without failing?

Yeah, that ground is brutal. I switched to a Marshalltown trowel with the solid steel shank after my last one gave out. It's held up for two seasons now. What are you using for gloves when you have to go bare-handed?

Wait, you finished your shift with a dustpan brush? That's some real dedication right there! I've had handles get loose, but snapping clean off is wild. That Tucson ground is like concrete.
