Pro tip: the excavation log hit 500 units and changed how I record

Hit 500 excavated units at the Trowbridge site outside Kansas City. Never thought a simple tally would show so much. The density of flint flakes jumped after unit 412, that's where the soil shifted to clay. Made me re-check my earlier field notes, found 3 units I'd mislabeled. Anyone else keep count and spot a pattern you missed?

The tally itself might be hiding something bigger, like how your counting method changes when you hit a round number. Once you crossed 500, maybe you started grouping flakes differently or paying less attention to small stuff, which could skew the pattern you just spotted. That clay shift at unit 412 could be real, but your own eyes might've switched modes right around then too. Worth comparing a few units before and after 500 to see if the jump is in the dirt or in your head.
