Spent 6 weeks sorting a Roman coin hoard, only to find the "rare" one was a modern fake

I finally finished cataloging 214 coins from a dig outside Chester, but the one I thought was a denarius of Carausius turned out to be a souvenir someone dropped in the 1920s, has anyone else had a museum curator crush their excitement like that?

You seriously sorted all 214 coins and the one that got your heart racing was a tourist trinket from the 1920s? That’s brutal. I once spent three weeks cleaning a corroded brooch that turned out to be a button from a 1970s parka. The curator didn’t even smile, just said “happens.” I’d have needed a very long nap after that.
